We believe that we are better off spending money on creating a great product that our users will recommend, than to spend most of our revenue on marketing hype and sales commissions (as many software companies do). We have deliberately structured our business in such a way that we can thrive, while giving away the product we have created. We are fully committed to offering the Q-magic assistant plus any future enhancements at $0 cost to anyone that wants to use it.

Q: But you are a business, how do you intend to make money?
A: Yes indeed, we are in this for profit, and we do make money. We do this in a few different ways. For instance, we may serve advertising to users or we may present certain products, such as live sales leads, service-plugins and the like for you to consider purchasing. We also create custom lead conversion, contact management and customer management solutions for large companies, and we do charge a consulting fee for the customizations plus a support fee, if support is desired.

Q: So, since you are not charging anything, you must have built it all very cheaply and it's going to fall apart at the seams.
A: In fact, quite the opposite. We have built the Q-magic assistant using cutting edge open source technology. Our software runs on Linux, MySQL, Java and the Google Web Toolkit (GWT). All this amounts to a complete state-of-the-art software stack that is proven, solid and extensible. It is precisely because we are using such refined components that our operating overhead can be maintained so low.

Q: Then you must be skimping on bandwidth or service availability?
A: Not at all. We find in the long run it is most cost-effective to build for high-availability from the start. That is what we have done with Q-magic. Everything is clustered and duplicated, so that service outages do not occur. Our systems reside in the Internet "Cloud". We host the service at state-of-the-art internet datacenters for mission critical systems. Our provider has been, for more than a decade, the infrastructure behind Web companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and many successful start-ups and corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
